Your Favourite Teacher is an online learning platform for GCSE students. We specialise in delivering comprehensive online learning for the core GCSE subjects: English Language, English Literature, Maths and Science.

All our learning resources are made by fully qualified teachers and loved by students!

What ages/year groups is Your Favourite Teacher suitable for?

Your Favourite Teacher’s courses are designed for GCSE and Functional Skills students aged 14-16.

However, our courses may also prove useful for KS3 students aged 11-15.

How much does Your Favourite Teacher cost?

The cost of Your Favourite Teacher is dependent on whether you a parent or guardian purchasing a subscription on behalf of your child, or if you are a school or football academy buying multiple accounts for your students.

Getting started

How do I log in?

  1. Visit www.yourfavouriteteacher.com and click ‘Login to your classroom’ at the top right of the page.
  2. Use the login details you’ve been provided and then click ‘Sign In’ to access your account.
  3. The first page you will see when you login will be the Dashboard. From the Dashboard you can change your details, track your progress, access courses and lessons etc. To get back to the Dashboard at any time, click ‘Login to your classroom’ at the top right of the page.

How do I change my password?

  1. To change your password, click ‘Profile’ on the left side of your Dashboard, which will take you to the ‘Password Change’ section.
  2. Enter your current password and your new password twice, in the relevant boxes. Then, press ‘Save Change’ to confirm.

How do I change my username?

Usernames cannot be changed, once an account has been created.

However, if you could like to change your first name, last name or nickname, please contact support@yourfavouriteteacher.com and we can arrange this for you.

How do I change my avatar?

To change your avatar, once on the Dashboard, click your current avatar. Select the avatar the you want from the list. Then, press ‘Select Avatar’ to confirm.

Setting tasks and monitoring progress

How long does a lesson take to complete?

On average, a lesson should take about 30 minutes to complete. However, this will vary from student to student. The video for each lesson is normally about 5-10 mins long.

What do you earn coins and badges for?

Student earn 5 coins for every quiz they pass and for every lesson they complete. They also earn 50 coins for their first ever login, and 5 coins for every day they login.

Students earn a badge for every lesson they complete, and they also earn a certificate for every course they fully complete.

Coins and badges can be viewed on the Dashboard, and course certificates can be accessed through each individual course completed.

How do I access individual user reports?

  1. On the Dashboard and on the menu on the left hand side, click ‘User Reports’.
  2. Click ‘Details’ on the right hand side.
  3. In ‘Details’ mode you can see the last login, coins, quiz passes, lesson completed etc. for each individual user in the group. Click on each of the column heading to sort the users in ascending or descending order based on that criterion.
  4. Click on the name of a student to see the individual user report for that student.

How do I download group or user reports?

  1. On the Dashboard and on the menu on the left hand side, click ‘User Reports’.
  2. To download a copy of a report, in either mode, click ‘PDF’ or ‘CSV’ in the top right hand corner, and then click the PDF or CSV link provided. If you are in ‘Detailed’ mode, tick the checkboxes of the students you want included in the report before clicking ‘PDF’ or ‘CSV’.

Getting started

I’ve been sent a link to register on Your Favourite Teacher. How do I sign-up?

1. If you’ve been sent a sign-up link for Your Favourite Teacher, click on the link you’ve been provided with. This link is specific to your organisation. Do NOT sign up elsewhere on the Your Favourite Teacher website, as you won’t be given the correct access and you may incur fees.

2. The link will take you to the Your Favourite Teacher sign-up form. Complete all fields of the form and then click ‘Register Your Account’. Please wait a couple of minutes for your account to be created.

3. Once your account is created, visit www.yourfavouriteteacher.com and click ‘Login to your classroom’ at the top right of the page to login and get started.

Using YFT

How do I start a course/lesson?

  1. On the Dashboard, click ‘View All Courses’ in the middle, or ‘Access Courses’ on the left hand side, to see the subjects that are available to you.
  2. Each subject is made up of courses, which are aligned with the topics on the GCSE exam syllabus. Every course is made up of several lessons. Each lesson contains at least one video, worksheet, topic page and quiz.
  3. Once you have selected a Subject and then a Course, you will be taken to the Course Page. At the top of the page there will be links for you to download the Checklist for the course, as well as any Teacher or Student Booklets.
  4. Below that, you will be able to see all the lessons, including how many topic pages and quizzes there are. Click ‘Expand’ to view the full details about a lesson.
  5. Click on the lesson title, on the relevant Course Page, to be taken to the Lesson Page.
  6. On the Lesson Page you will see the video for the lesson. Ensure you watch the video till the end to move on! Below the video you can click the links to download the Worksheet for that lesson. We suggest you watch the video and read the topic pages before you attempt the worksheet.
  7. Below the worksheet, click on the title of the first topic page to continue.

How do I complete tasks I’ve been set?

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click ‘View All Tasks’. This will enable you to see all the tasks you have been set.
  2. Click ‘View’ to see the full details of the lesson and then ‘Go to lesson’ to begin.
  3. On the Lesson Page you will see the video for the lesson. Ensure you watch the video till the end to move on!
  4. Below the video you can click the links to download the Worksheet for that lesson.
  5. Below the worksheet, click on the title of the first topic page to continue.
  6. Read all the topic pages and make sure you ‘Mark Complete’ on each page.
  7. Finally, complete the quiz for the lesson. Once you have marked all the topic pages as complete and passed the quiz, the lesson will be marked as complete on your task list.

I’ve been set a task but I can’t see it in my task list.

If the task you have been set is for a lesson you’ve already completed it won’t appear in your task list.

However, if the task is for a lesson you haven’t already completed, please delete your cache following the instructions here and refresh the page. If you still can’t see the task, please contact support@yourfavouriteteacher.com and we will look into this for you.

How do I complete a lesson?

  1. Go to your Dashboard and click ‘View All Courses’.
  2. Select the subject, then course, then lesson you wish to complete.
  3. On the Lesson Page you will see the video for the lesson. Ensure you watch the video till the end to move on!
  4. Below the video you can click the links to download the Worksheet for that lesson.
  5. Below the worksheet, click on the title of the first topic page to continue.
  6. Read all the topic pages and make sure you ‘Mark Complete’ on each page.

How do I complete a course?

Once you have completed all the lessons in a course, the course will be marked as 100% complete and you will be able to download your course completion certificate from the Course Page.

How do I complete a topic?

Once you have read the information on the first topic page, click ‘Mark Complete’ at the bottom of the page. You will then be taken to the next topic page, if there is one. Repeat the same process until you have competed all the topic pages.

How do I take notes?

  1. In any section of a lesson, on the right-hand side you will see a ‘Take Notes’ button. This is perfect if you want to jot anything down from a topic or quiz you have taken!
  2. Type in your notes in the textbox box, and then click ‘Save’ when you are done. You can also print or download a copy of your notes using the 2 buttons next to the Save button.
  3. On the Dashboard, click ‘Notes’ to access all the notes you have taken.
  4. Here you can also print, download or delete your notes, using the buttons on the right hand side.

How do I complete a quiz?

  1. Once you have completed all the topic pages in a lesson, you will be taken to the quiz. Alternatively click the link to the quiz at the bottom of the Lesson Page.
  2. Click ‘Start Quiz’ to test your knowledge! Read the question carefully and select your answer. You may be asked single choice, multiple choice, true or false, sorting order, fill in the blank, or open answer questions. Make sure the number of options you select matches the number of points the question is worth. Once you’ve selected your answer, click ‘Next’.
  3. Once you’ve finished the final question, click ‘Finish Quiz’ to get your results.
  4. If you get any questions wrong, and especially if you don’t pass the quiz, click ‘View Questions’ to see which questions you got wrong and why. If you didn’t pass the test, then click ‘Restart Quiz’ to have another attempt.

Can I only complete lessons that are set to me as tasks?

No, tasks set to you are lessons your teacher/tutor/parent would like you to complete. However, you are welcome to complete any additional lessons on top of this by working through our courses and lessons independently.

Do I have to complete the lessons in a course in the correct order?

Our courses are structured so there is a logical progression through each course. We suggest it is best to complete lessons in the order provided.

However, this order is a suggestion only so you are welcome to complete the lessons in any order you like. If you choose to complete the lessons in a course out of order, please check at the beginning of the video whether you need to look at a previous lesson first, as the lesson may build on a previous lesson in the course.

Monitoring progress

How do I view my coins and badges?

On the right hand side of your Dashboard, you will see the Total Coins you have earned. You earn coins for logging in, completing lessons etc.

At the bottom of your Dashboard, you will find the Badges you have collected.

My progress/coins/badges aren’t updating.

If your progress, coins or badges aren’t updating, please delete your cache following the instructions listed here.

How do I access my report?

On the left hand side of the Dashboard, click ‘My Report’. You will be directed to a page that will give you an overview of your progress on the Your Favourite Teacher website.

How do I download my report?

  1. On the left hand side of the Dashboard, click ‘My Report’. You will be directed to a page that will give you an overview of your progress on the Your Favourite Teacher website.
  2. On the top left of this screen, you can click ‘PDF’ which will prompt you to download the overview. This PDF will open in a new tab and can be printed.

Billing & Payments

How do I view my current pricing plan?

Sign in to your Account and select Subscription to see your YFT plan and billing history.

What is my billing date?

As a subscriber to YFT you are automatically charged once a month on the date you signed up. Your YFT subscription is charged at the beginning of your billing cycle and can take several days to appear on your account.

If your billing date is scheduled for a day that does not occur in every month (for example, the 31st), you will be billed on the last day of that month instead.

How can I update my payment information?

To amend/cancel your subscription, you’ll need to log in to your account and click on ‘Subscription’ on the left side of the dashboard – you’ll see the option to cancel on the next page.

I was charged earlier than expected.

If your billing date is scheduled for a day that does not occur in a given month (such as the 31st), you’ll be billed on the last day of that month instead.

If you recently changed your billing date and within the same month there is a price change or you upgrade your plan, you could be charged earlier than expected.

How can I use Your Favourite Teacher with my students?

There are 2 main ways that schools currently use Your Favourite Teacher.

  1. Homework – Teachers sets lessons as tasks on Your Favourite Teacher for students to complete as homework. To find out how to set lesson as a task, click here.
  2. In an intervention setting – Teachers will guide the student through the different sections of the Your Favourite Teacher they would like the student to work on. We suggest that for each lesson, students complete the sections in the following order: video, topic pages, worksheets then quizzes.

However, you’re welcome to use Your Favourite Teacher in any other way that you think might be useful.

How can I use Your Favourite Teacher for a cover lesson?

To use Your Favourite teacher for a cover lesson, first make sure the cover teacher has access to Your Favourite Teacher.

If the lesson is taking place in a computer room:

  1. Get the students to login to Your Favourite Teacher.
  2. Tell the students which lesson to look at, or you can set the lesson as a task for the whole class. To find out how to set lesson as a task, click here.
  3. Let the students work through the lesson independently, providing assistance if needed. We suggest that for each lesson, students complete the sections in the following order: video, topic pages, worksheets then quizzes.

If the lesson isn’t taking place in a computer room:

  1. Login to Your Favourite Teacher and display the platform on the board.
  2. For the starter, play the video for the lesson you’re teaching.
  3. Have a disccussion with the class about what the video covered. This could be done as a whole class or in small groups. Or alternatively, ask the students to summarise the key points from the video in a mindmap. The topic pages can be used to make sure all the key points from the video have been covered.
  4. Either display the worksheet on the board, or print of copies of the worksheet before the lesson, and get the students to complete the worksheet independently.
  5. Display the answers on the board and get the students to either self mark or peer assess each others answers.
  6. For the plenary, display the quiz on the board and get students to vote for which answer you should select.

These are our suggestions for how to effectively use Your Favourite teacher for a cover lesson, based on feedback from teachers. However, you’re welcome to use Your Favourite Teacher in any other way that you think might be useful.

Setting tasks and monitoring progress

How do I set a task?

  1. On the Dashboard, click ‘Set & Track Tasks’.
  2. Click ‘+ New Task’ to begin.
  3. From the ‘Select a student group’ dropdown, select the group you’d like to set a task to.
  4. Once you’ve done this, the ‘Select students’ and ‘Select course’ options will appear. Next, you will be prompted to pick a course and a lesson within that course from the options listed. Either click ‘Select all’ or select individual users for this particular task.
  5. Once you’ve selected a course, the ‘Select lessons’ option will appear. Select all the lessons you want for this particular task.
  6. Once you’ve selected at least one lesson, the ‘Select task start date’ and ‘Select task end date’ options will appear. Click on the Calendar Icons and set your task start and end dates.
  7. You can add ‘Additional Notes’ or ‘Attach a File’ if you want to provide users with additional details. Finally, click ‘Create task’. This will send an email to the users to prompt them to log in to complete the lesson.

How do I monitor the progress of a task?

  1. On the Dashboard, click ‘Set & Track Tasks’.
  2. Here you will see all tasks you have previously set. You can see the date set, start date, due date, group you assigned the task to and the lessons you set.
  3. Click the Magnifying Glass Icon to see further details of the task. This will show the names of the specific users in the group you assigned the task to, as well as their progress on the task.

Is there a limit on how many tasks I can set?

There so no limit on how many tasks you can set. This means you can set tasks for as many or few students in a group as you like, and you can even set different tasks or deadlines for different students in the same group.

How do I access group reports?

  1. On the Dashboard and on the menu on the left hand side, click ‘User Reports’.
  2. Click the ‘Group’ dropdown and pick the group you would like to have a closer look at. At this point, you can also click ‘Date range’ to pick a specific date range, if you would like to see how often the users are accessing the platform in a certain time frame.
  3. In ‘Overview’ mode you can see the total, average and top scores for the group for lessons completed, quizzes passed, badges awarded, estimated learning hours etc. You can also see the top user for each criterion.
  4. Below this, you can click ‘Lessons Completed’, ‘Topics Completed’ or ‘Quizzes’ to see how many users have completed specific lessons, topics and quizzes. The ‘Quizzes’ section also gives you details about the number of passes and the average score. You can use the 2 dropdowns to just look at specific subjects and courses.
  5. To get a more detailed breakdown, click ‘Details’ on the right hand side.
  6. In ‘Details’ mode you can see the last login, coins, quiz passes, lesson completed etc. for each individual user in the group. Click on each of the column heading to sort the users in ascending or descending order based on that criterion.

How do I clear my cache?

In Chrome:
1. On your computer, open Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More .
3. Click More tools. Clear browsing data.
4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
5. Next to “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files,” check the boxes.
6. Click Clear data.

In Firefox:
1. Click the menu button. and select Options. …
2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data….
4. Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data. …
5. With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.
6. Close the about: preferences page.

In Edge:
1. Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
2. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
3. Under Time range, choose a time range.
4. Select Cookies and other site data, and then select Clear now.

In Samsung Internet:
1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
2. Tap Internet.
3. Tap the MORE icon.
4. Scroll to and tap Settings.
5. Tap Privacy.
6. Tap Delete personal data.
7. Choose one of the following: Cache. Cookies and site data. Browsing history.
8. Tap DELETE.

On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
1. To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies and browsing data from Safari won’t change your AutoFill information.
2. To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.

If you are using a different browser, please check its support site for instructions.

I can’t access a topic or quiz.

The topics and quizzes in a lesson are unlocked when you have watched the video for that lesson. Please make sure you watch the video all the way to the end; the topics and quizzes should then unlock.

If that does not work, please delete your cache following the instructions here.

If you still can’t access the topics or quiz after watching to the end of the video and clearing your cache, please contact support@yourfavouriteteacher.com

I can’t access all the courses I should have access to.

If you have only just been access to your account, please wait a few minutes and then refresh. If that does not work, please delete your cache following the instructions here.
