You create a factor tree by writing the number you are trying to find the factors of. You then split the number into two numbers that are factors of that number, until you reach its lowest form (prime factors).
If we add the prime factors, we get 3 × 3 × 2 × 2 = 36
If we add the prime factors, we get 2 × 3 × 5 × 2 = 60

When you create your own factor trees, remember to circle each prime factor as you go, so you don’t get confused!
